If you are willing to do the legwork yourself, a complete apostille in New York costs between $13 and $16; here’s the breakdown:
If you already have an exemplified document, such as a birth certificate with a raised seal from the clerk, you’;; need to send it to Albany with a check for $10. You’ll also need to pay for the return postage. Let’s use a brown manila envelope both ways for a postage cost of about $1.50 each way.
So there’s your first total of $13.
If your document is not exemplified, you’ll need to get it authenticated (you can do this at the County Clerk for free) and then authenticated at the same Clerk for $3.00.
So in reality you don’t even need to pay for a notary. The grand total is $16.
